The IDRC Logo
History
The four boxes of the IDRC logo represent the four original programs of
the Centre: agriculture, food, and nutrition sciences; information sciences;
population and health sciences; and social sciences and human resources.
The three-dimensional appearance of these boxes is meant to portray how
the work of IDRC is to reach out to the peoples of the developing world,
to help them find their own solutions to their own problems. Since its
founding in October 1970, the program structure of IDRC has changed many
times. The logo, however, has remained essentially the same, undergoing
its only significant redesigns in late 1989 and early 2000.
Guidelines on usage and retrieval
Various formats and sizes of the IDRC logo are available from IDRC Books.
Read the guidelines
for use or contact
pub@idrc.ca for
more information. Various formats of the IDRC logo and Canada wordmark
may be downloaded from the IDRC web site.
IDRC Document Cover
The IDRC "document cover" is a standard stationery item available to all
Centre staff who wish to give their reports a uniform, corporate look.
They can be used for many types of documents aimed at both internal and
external audiences. The covers are suitable for preliminary reports, proceedings,
reports to donor agencies and partner organizations, or any other document
with a limited distribution but sufficient value to merit a durable
and attractive format.
The conception, design, printing, binding, and distribution of these
documents is not handled by IDRC Books. As such, "internal IDRC documents"
are "program" documents, only available from the author(s) or the contact
person listed on the title page. IDRC Books will not fulfil orders for
these documents, and they will not be listed in the IDRC publications catalogue.
All such documents must systematically be deposited with the IDRC Library.
They are an important record of the Centre's work and should be available
for consultation by researchers worldwide through the Centre's library
service.
Please send the IDRC Library one hard copy and one electronic copy
of each report.
The covers are a standard IDRC stationery item. They are available from
